Our Pier

Parent of Leah
"Shorncliffe Pier - The Focus of a Community"
Take  a child and give them a camera & they will show you their world
Take a wooden pier and build a community around it and it will flourish.

Year 1 Jordan - The Pier means fishing with my mum and dad and riding my bike

Year 7 Piper - This photo shows the historical beauty if the Pier. The puddle in the foreground reflects the light posts reminding me of a peaceful walk down the Pier on a rainy day.

Sian Year 3 - I think this photo shows the beauty of the Pier in the Morning

Elle Prep Year - I can't go on the Pier

Scarlett Year 6 - This photo is inspiring to me because it reflects the  true beauty  of the many little details that create the beautiful scenery around the Pier

Anne Parent - "Colourful Columns" This is taken from the Shorncliffe Pier on a striking early morning in winter. The colour of the sun rising over Moreton Bay perfectly frames the old columns and caught my eye a a beautiful picture to remember

Eilidh Year 7 - This photo show the length of the Pier and the surrounding rocks. Being in black and white gives the photo a dramatic feeling. It reminds me of being down the waterfront on a rainy day.

Naomi Parent - This photo is osecial to me as it shows the graceful ageing of the pier. The aged timber and markings show it's history and reminds me of the harsh environment in which it stands.

Emerson year 4 - The sun moves and makes patterns in the sea which causes people to use as a place to watch the sea.

Elliot Year 4 - I imagine the pier being an old lady and wonder about the history she has been part of. The boats and people that have come and gone. Now she is blocked off from the public and only gets to see the planes fly above her with freedom

Erin  Year 5 - However you look at the Pier there is always something magical to see

Bethany Year 3 - It was amazing to see the sun setting through the lines of bars on the other side of the Pier . It made beautiful shadows on the sand and reflections on the water.

Ella Year 2 - I stood under the Shorncliffe Pier and took this photo of the pylons that hold up the Pier. I was interested to see the old and the new pylons. I was sad to see the rusty old pylons falling over. I like looking through the middle of the pylons, it felt like a tunnel.
Ozy Year 6 -Although this photo exposes how old and run down the Pier is, I think it also brings out it's inner beauty

Leo Prep Year - I love the Shorncliffe Pier because I have a great time with my mum, dad and brother. Whether it is wet or dry I can still do skids on my bike. This photo shows that it shines even when there is a storm on the horizon.

  1. it really is a eye opener on what a child sees and thinks and simplicity of their lives .... oh how I wish I could have that again. It was and is a joy to see the Pier as they see it . every one should have a look at this book .

  2. I think that the children have opened our eyes a little with this. May be we should look at things as simply as they do, we may just see a simpler way of doing things.
